Developing a collaborative symposium

Developing a collaborative symposium

Working with the research office of one of the UK’s top universities, I facilitated a collaborative symposium designed to increase innovative, cross-disciplinary collaboration between their researchers. Over 60 researchers attended the 1-day Symposium at the University of Dundee, from 23 internal departments and centers. Keeping the speaker forum to a minimum, we increased the types of platforms and the time available for researchers to have structured breakout discussions around selected themes. This event resulted in 70% of participants discussing new or existing projects with colleagues they had not met before, with a demonstrable increased engagement across disciplines.

Testimonial
“Sawsan’s design and facilitation of our GCRF Symposium was highly professional and made a positive difference. She kept our academics engaged in their workshop discussions and made sure energy levels were up throughout the day.”
